Psalm 40:1-5 1. “ I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry 2. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps 3. He has put a new song in my mouth—Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the LORD 4. Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies 5. Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works Which You… Continue

Matt Young Don’t just sit there...(WORD FROM THE PASTOR)

Don’t just sit there... Do something! Please do something. Do anything to help. There is so much to do and you have a responsibility and the abilities to help get the job done. God has equipped everyone to do something. In fact, you can do at least one thing better than 10,000 other people. That’s right, you are that special. You may not realize just how special you are because you haven’t been doing anything with what you have been given. When you begin to do, it’s in doing that you discover… Continue

Matt Young Dying to have a friend…(WORD FROM THE PASTOR)

It sounds strange but true. Friendlessness can be fatal. Loneliness is most discouraging to us all. We all were born with a desire to be connected to others. Psychologists call it an affiliative drive. It is a desire to be wanted, accepted, enjoyed and loved by others. In fact, only in connection with others can our deepest needs be met. *During World War II, doctors discovered a fatal disease called marasmus. A group of orphan babies were placed in a facility with good accommodations. They had… Continue

Al Hill Generation Y!!!!

What is Generation Y? Generation Y is a WHO! It is the group of people between the ages of 16-29. I won’t bore you with a lot of statistics that you can find yourself, but I would like to share some of their characteristics with you. Research tells us that they are media savvy and technologically advanced. They question everything and everyone. Many of them are high performers but are more concerned with “what’s in it for them.” Personal relationships are not a strength for them but they have a… Continue

Al Hill WORD FROM THE PASTOR: Rebuke It!

Have you ever had a problem that persisted? Despite your best efforts it just wouldn’t go away? You prayed repeatedly, read books, got counsel, learned techniques to overcome or finally settled with tolerating it? I think all of us have. I had something happen a couple of nights this week that reminded me of some lessons in prayer that I obviously had forgotten. Since Debbie’s been gone I haven’t rested as well. The beginning of this week has been particularly restless. On Wednesday morning abou… Continue

Al Hill WORD FROM THE PASTOR: Invite! Invite! Invite!

Did you know that 62% of unchurched people say they’ve never been invited? They don’t say that’s the reason they don’t come to church but they are saying they haven’t been invited. How will they ever know they are welcome if we don’t even invite them? Their life in Christ begins with an invitation. Their lives can be changed forever by being invited into a fellowship of believers where they will be loved, discipled and taught the powerful word of God. Their changed lives will in turn impact othe… Continue

Al Hill WORD FROM THE PASTOR: Jesus Broke All the Rules...

Especially the rules regarding to people. He didn’t break God’s rules just man’s. He was constantly surrounding himself with people that the religious society or the church of His day frowned upon. The religious leaders of His day made all kinds of rules that essentially separated the supposedly religious from the rest of the world. Hence, creating an us and them mentality. Jesus would have no part of it. Let’s look at the list of people Jesus chose to help and often share meals with publicly a… Continue

Al Hill WORD FROM THE PASTOR: Peace on Earth and goodwill to all men?

Really now. Is that what the scripture says? If so, where is all the peace and goodwill? We have nations at war, governments in anarchy, communities divided and homes in turmoil. What about this goodwill to all men? In these last days, goodwill toward each other has become lost in our self-will. We have become people who are more concerned about self and barely concerned about others. So, who gets to enjoy peace on earth and goodwill? First, let’s look at what the scripture says. Luke 2:14 says… Continue

Al Hill WORD FROM THE PASTOR: The Forgetfulness of God!

How could the God of the universe be so forgetful? Is it because He has so much on His mind? Or is it because He has selective memory? I think it’s the latter. There are just some things that God chooses not to remember. God says in Hebrews 8: 12, “I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more.” He has made a deal with us in His new covenant that if we repent and choose His Son, He will forgive us and choose to forget our sins. Wow! God cho… Continue

Al Hill WORD FROM THE PASTOR: BARACK OBAMA!!!

Praise the Lord for our new president! Yes, praise the Lord. I didn’t vote for him only because I can’t support the Democrat’s stance on the killing of unborn children or legalizing gay marriage. Otherwise, I do celebrate this historic moment. I look forward to the walls of racism continuing to fall in our nation. He is God’s man for this time and God will use him to fulfill His purposes. Although, I didn’t support him with my vote, I will support him with my respect and prayers. This, my frien… Continue

Al Hill WORD FROM THE PASTOR: Who Are You Voting For And Why?

Or do you even know? You may know who’s going to get your vote but do you know why? What party are you? Why? Do you know what the parties stand for? Please pull yourself away from all of the superficial campaigning and media coverage and figure it out. Isn’t it time we become mature enough to think for ourselves? Regardless of your party affiliation please go to their websites and read their agendas. Don’t you want to know what each party stands for? Or do you just want to blindly cast your vote… Continue

Al Hill WORD FROM THE PASTOR: Politicians with Poor Self Esteem…

Don’t you get sick of the negative campaigning that political hopefuls do against each other? It can be hard to find any hope in all of the negativity, criticizing and tearing down of those who seek to lead us. Really, is that good leadership at all? I realize the imperfection of us all but shouldn’t leadership be a cut above? Why is it that our leaders continue to resort to this time and time again? Are their positive achievements not enough to get them elected? I wish that someone pass a law… Continue

Al Hill WORD FROM THE PASTOR: Beam Me Up Scotty!

Glorious Life Church you have energized me! You have increased my faith. Two weeks ago, you decided with me to take a step of faith and order our new parking lot knowing that we didn’t have all the money for it. That’s crazy and so is faith. Real faith is that radical. This is just the beginning of many things that we will radically believe for as we advance the kingdom. Seeing God answer this expression of our faith is only going to wet our appetite for more. Your faith is awesome! We will see… Continue

Al Hill WORD FROM THE PASTOR: Burn Baby Burn!

Listen to the words of Jesus in the following passage found in Luke 12:49-58. “I’ve come to start a fire on this earth-how I wish it were blazing even right now! I’ve come to change everything, turn everything right side up-how I long for it to be finished! Do you think I came to smooth things over and make everything nice? Not so. I’ve come to disrupt and confront! From now on, when you find five in a house, it will be: Three against two and two against three, Father against son, and son agains… Continue

I’ve already used that one… We change jobs… We finish our education… We finish… Continue

Al Hill WORD FROM THE PASTOR: Hurting People Hurt People

Ever wonder why we act the way we do? Why do we do certain things that are hurtful, abusive, derogatory or divisive things? I am in no way attempting to even excuse the bad things that we do to each other yet to foster some understanding. We could all use a little more understanding and compassion. There really is a very simple explanation that will shed some light on our dark behaviors. First of all, what comes out of us is in us. If I cause others pain it is because pain is in me. I give to o… Continue
